Hi JavaRanchers!

I have a quick question about the Oracle exam.
I'm wondering exactly how their review system works.
Maybe someone who has been there can fill me in

I prepared using the Enthuware and Whizlabs tests.
In these simulations:
  • A link to every question appears in a review table at the end
  • Any questions you have marked for review are highlighted
  • Unanswered questions are indicated too

  • Does the actual exam have this kind of a review page?

It's a long time ago since I took an exam, so relying heavily on my memory here

The last page of the exam is an overview page:
  • questions which you have marked to review get a specific indication (question mark in yellow box I beieve)
  • questions which are not completely answered (e.g. selected 2 out of 3 required answers) are marked as well

  • You also have a Finish button to end the exam. And I believe you have a button to go to the 1st question and 1 to review all marked/incmplete questions as well. But I can't remember it's possible to jump to every question seperately using a link. But it might be totally wrong or Oracle might have changed this since I took my last exam. So don't make hasty conclusions until someone who took the exam recently shares his/her experiences.

    Kind regards,
    Roel

    Thank you very much Roel
Even just hearing that there in fact IS a review page is helpful
If anyone knows just how it appears recently I'd love to hear!

I'll guess I will take the OCAJP7 exam next month. So I can answer these questions without any doubt and of course just for fun too

If no one posts here today/tomorrow as to how the review page behaves
My exam is in two weeks time and
I'll be sure to post this info myself after my test.

There is a review page. It shows which questions you said you want to go back to and there is a direct link to such questions.

    Thanks Jeanne

    Just wondering...
Does the review page also show entirely unattempted questions?

The reason I'm trying to find out is this.
I plan is to approach the test in three stages
to combat nerves and get settled etc.!

    1) Do questions in order but leave some time-consuming ones un-answered
    2) Do un-answered questions (now I'm limbered up )
    3) Review all my marked questions from the full 70

This method has worked for me with the Enthuware Mock Exams
I think I will also keep a note of the skipped ones
but it would be really comforting to know this 'unanswered alert' is a feature of the review page
or I might re-assess my plan (I'm sitting the test nest week)

    Anyone know?
    Thanks in advance

I'm not sure. I've always answered all of them. Even on a harder exam, I at least guess and go on to the next one.

I think your strategy is viable. Unless someone confirms that unanswered questions are indicated, I think your plan to keep a backup list of answered questions is a good one. I actually keep a list on my writing materials of questions where I was torn between 2-3 answers (so I remember what the options are.) Oracle allegedly has the ability to cross out answers in the software, but this didn't work in the beta.

    Thank you Jeanne

That's helpful and good to hear my plan looks reasonable to you.
I read your blog on taking this exam.
Great stuff. And useful too. I've checked out the conditions at my testing centre as a result
Maybe you could un-mark this thread as being resolved
to up my chances of someone confirming the 'unanswered question' feature
(or should I just post again?)

Done. Better to keep the same question in the same thread so it has the context.

I did my exam there a few days ago
So now I have the answer!

Appearing at the base of the screen,
'Review' can be pressed at any time during the exam.
It opens the review page which contains:
ONLY YOUR CURRENTLY MARKED AND UNATTEMPTED QUESTIONS
This same page will pop up anyway after Question 70

On the review page is also 'review all' button
which you might not need - it cycles you back through every single question.

    Once you've been thru the 70 Q's
You can finalise your marked ones and unmark them
and also do any unattempted questions
And thus your uncompleted list whittles down

It's a really good safety net actually.
Twice in Enthuware I had skipped a question (maybe clicked twice or something )
and then missed the Yellow check mark their software uses
which is clear but not unmissable like Oracle's

Also you CAN strike-thru answers on screen without affecting your answer selection
It's just like enthuware except you use ctrl and right click together
It greys options out as well which made for a visual aid when selecting between many.

Enthuware have done a wonderful job of recreating the test conditions
    It's really very similar.
Code is indented and appears the same.
One difference which is small was
the timer is top right as opposed to centre left in Enthuware.
    That's about it tho.

    Hope this helps someone
Good luck in the exam everyone

Thanks for returning and answering your own question in such detail. Excellent attitude! Unfortunately not everyone has this attitude. So I granted you a cow!

(and I marked this thread as resolved now )

Good to hear they fixed that. It was broken when I tried during the beta.
