I have a process that is running on a specific port on my remote Ubuntu machine and I'm exposing that port via HTTP. When I tried to connect with my client using curl, I'm not able to connect, but if I do the same call on the remote machine locally, I can see that it connects. So I'm pretty sure that it is a network issue, but just not sure what it is? Here is what I did!

I did change the sshd_config on my remote host to use certificate authentication and disabled password authentication. I guess that shouldn't do any harm to my error scenario above or?

I did execute the same command on the remote machine and I guess I'm zeroing in on the problem. Here is what I see!

Actually, it sounds like you have firewall problems.

It was a fresh Ubuntu installation on my home pc. I'm not sure if firewall is enabled by default on a fresh Ubuntu 14.10 installation. I will check that tonight!
