Confused about mock exams

Hi.

I have two books for studying OCAJP 7. Mala Gupta's OCA Java SE 7 and Sierra and Bates SCJP 6 guide. I am reading chapters 1 to 5.

I find that Gupta's mock exams are too easy and S&B's mock exams are too difficult. I was wondering if I am really prepared for the exam.

Does Gupta's book cover everything in the exam? Does S&B's book cover too much detail?

Please advise because this is the second time I am trying for the exam and I am really worried if I am pass this time round.

Thanks.

The Gupta book does cover everything for the OCA7 exam. The K&B6 book 1) does NOT cover the Java 7 new features (eg string in switch) and 2) has topics that are not needed for OCA7.

I don't know about Gupta's book since I have never used it, but I can tell you that K&B's (It should be K&B, not S&B) mock exams are not TOO difficult. They are just a little more difficult than the real thing and the only reason for this little extra toughness is the fact that in K&B they never tell you how many correct options there are whereas in the real test, they always do.

If you find K&B's tests too tough, you would want to kill the author of Enthuware mock tests.

My advice: get K&B 7, worth every penny. Read every word in the book do every question a least twice. Then you will be most likely very well prepared.

Read my post about my experience
Good luck!

If you doubt about your current level and you are unsure if you are really prepared for the exam, just buy the Enthuware mock exams. It's great value for money (10 usd for 500 questions with detailed explanations). If you take 2 exams, you really know if you are ready or not. And if you aren't, you have plenty of exams left to take after you did some extra studying.

If you want an additional study guide, K&B7 is the best study guide on the market. And it covers both the OCAJP7 and OCPJP7 exams.
