Hi, I passed yesterday 1Z0-804 with 78%. I used:

- Sun Certified Java Programmer 6 Study Guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates
- Oracle Ceritified Professional Java SE 7 Programmer Programmer Exams by S G Ganesh and Tushar Sharma
- Oracle Java Tutorials
- Java API
- Java Generics FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions (I found it quiet useful)
- CodeRanch
- Enthuware Tests

Initially I was preparing for OCPJP6. And my first book was SCJP 6 study guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. I then I changed my decision and decided to prepare for OCPJP7.

I found the guide by Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates a bit better than the one by S G Ganesh and Tushar Sharma. I haven't seen their new OCA/OCP 7 guide, but definitely it worth obtaining. The guide by S G Ganesh and Tushar Sharma has two mock tests that are similar to real tests.

After having passed the tests at the end of Ganesh's and Sharma's book (75% and 73%) I obtained the Enthuware tests. These tests are the same that the test on the real exam. My results:

1 - 78%
2 - 78%
3 - 73%
4 - 78% (magic score)
5 - 76%
Last day test - 75%.

My score on real exam is 78 %.

Although the guides are very useful during preparation, I suggest reading Oracle Java API and official Java Tutorials as well as coding as much as possible. The books are huge, almost 1K pages, but they are still not able to cover everything that is required for the exam.

I do know how to succeed better on my score and to show better result, higher that magic 78 %, but I want to go further, to more advanced challenges (my next aim is persistance API and web services) and I don't know how our local Pearson VUE centers will work on the second half of December. I don't want to celebrate the New Year with the exam.

Thanks. It wasn't fast. I was initially preparing for OCPJP6 and managed to complete all the tests in the K&B 6 Study Guide before I decided to pass SE 7.

Here is the link to generics - http://www.angelikalanger.com/GenericsFAQ/JavaGenericsFAQ.html .
