Maybe there is something American there I fail to catch, but for me the mystery is still there. There is something with the ring, perhaps? Santa Claus, is just an adapted version of the Dutch Sinterklaas anyway. Sinterklaas is the real guy, the original. Lives in Spain, not the north pole. And he has black Peters working for them, not dwarfs. And he rides a white horse, not a reindeer sledge. He is real, Santa Claus does not exist.

You all fail the nerd test -- turn in your geek cards immediately!

Yes, it's the ring. Which bears a logo that looks suspiciously like a lantern -- a green lantern.

Ah, I had too google that Bear.

I failed that nerd test by miles it seems.

But maybe the green lantern is a bit for the older nerds too? It says it is from 1945?

I'll keep my Nerd card thanks, but I don't think I ever had a Geek card.

A nerd is someone who gets a joke like this, which is me all over.

A geek is someone who spots a comic book reference in a photo of a dude in a Santa suit, and that ain't me man.

Ah. Well. I understand that joke Tim, although I do not think that is very funny. I have Linux on an old PC at home.

P.S. Green Lantern has been around for a long time and is still with in many media forms.

Same here. Haven't followed User Friendly in a long time, but once upon a time it was worth the time.

Don't worry Jan, it's definitely an 'Merican joke. I didn't get it either, but that's because I'm a Marvel man, not DC...

Totally agree. After 11 years in Belgium, Sinterklass is 'da man'. And what's more, he's an ethnically (some might even say an "affirmatively") fair employer. Truly a Santa Claus for the new Millenium.

Now we just have to convince the Anglos that Christmas should be on December 6th....
