It shouldn't be. Java 8 has been out for quite a while; and if that particular update was still in Beta testing I think it would have said so pretty clearly on the download page.

You don't normally need to do that. Just add a bookmark for this page.

[Edit] However, if you really feel you must. You can download the entire doc set here (it's near the bottom of the page. It can be useful to have if you sometimes use your computer for development when you don't have an Internet connection.

Double negatives.

Unless it specifically said on the download page that it IS a Beta version, it WON'T be.

Dear Winston Gutkowski,
So you mean to say that, jdk 8 update 25 64-bit is a non-beta version? because it doesnot says beta-version in the download page.
Thanks a lot

Raj, I've just explained it. If it doesn't say that it's a Beta download, then it will NOT be one (and you don't want it to be).

Do you understand what a Beta version is?

A Beta version is a "test" version of software released so that people can try out new stuff and help find bugs. It generally comes with no guarantees that it will even work, although it's usually been pretty thoroughly tested before it's released.

So, all the book is saying is that you DON'T want a Beta version.
