Is anyone else using BootCamp? What's your experiences? How big of a partition do you use?
In the past, I've always used VirtualBox and run Windows in a Virtual Machine. I do this only for web development IE
testing, and it works well, using the free versions of Windows and IE Microsoft provides. I keep the partitions small, and because they are dynamically sized by VirtualBox, only take the space required - not the size indicated in the Windows VM.
Over the weekend, I needed to setup a true Windows environment. I have access to a licensed copy of Win8 via DreamSpark and thought this would be easy. Initially, I made my partition 30GB, but filled that before Windows 8 had completed the 212 updates (totally 2.5GB (!)) required before I could install the free update to Win8.1. After wasting a good chunk of Sunday, I've now gone for broke and redone it with a 100GB partition.
It would seem the spec requirements for Windows and BootCamp on Apple's site are a bit short.
