Which event is generated when a scrollbar is update?

If you want to listen for events then you need to add a listener to the scrollbar.

Check out the JScrollBar API. Look for methods that start with "add...". One of these methods will add the appropriate listener.

Also find a copy of Thinking in Java by Bruce Eckel. It used to be possible to download a PDF of the 3rd edition free of charge. Try here. There is a little program shown which uses reflection to find and list all the methods in a particular class which are called addXXXListener.
