That's a good idea. I've started to prepare for the test as well. A co-worker of mine just took the exam and passed with a mid-70s result (72% is passing). He's been working with WLS for a little over a year.

Joe, thanks for the response. I am going for the WebLogic 6.0 Certification.
1. I started using the WebLogic 6.0 in the second week of April, 2001. ( I have used the WebLogic 5.1.0 for a couple of months. )
2. I have been studing Marty Hall's "Core Servlets and JavaServer Pages"
3. I just went through the Sun's tutorial on EJB at the site: http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/onlineTraining/
EJBIntro/EJBIntrolhtml
4. I shall work on the Pet Store example (EJB) that comes with the WebLogic 6.0 next week.
Hoping to get feedback from you on the preparation of the Certification.

I'm at about the same place as you JaiPei. I've been using 5.1 for about 6 months (just one project), and began to play with 6.0 a few weeks ago. I'm using the Wrox book "Java Server Programming" for servlets and JSPs, and the O'Reilly book on Enterprise JavaBeans for EJBs. I'm taking the SCJP test next week, so I'll begin to study for the WLS exam in earnest after that (work on the Pet Store project, etc.).
I'm going to put together a study guide for the WLS exam to be used by other consultants in my company who are also going to be taking the test. When it get's closer to completion, I'd appreciate any feedback from anyone who's willing to look at it.
Also, FYI, BEA just released a mock exam, but it's only available to their Star Members (which we're not ). I'd love to get my hands on it!

Joe, I am less experienced in WebLogic than you. As to Java, I passed SCJP2 by the end of 2000. My employer gave me a rough study guide for the WebLogic 6.0 Certification examination. I do not know how useful it is ( I just started working for this consulting firm on the 9th of April, 2001). My employer is the three-star partner with the BEA. I am going to make some inquiries and try to get that mock exam. I am hoping that it is legal to share the mock exam questions with you.

A reply to an old post, but useful nonetheless. I just took the sample exam, and it's not particularly useful. It's only some 20 odd questions. But the vast amount of questions are SPECIFIC to BEA products.
Reading the documentation (including the admin guide), understanding clustering, and having a STRONG knowledge of JMS seems to be the key, based on what I've gleaned from posts here & the sample test.

Thanks for the suggestion. This has been raised as a possibility at JavaRanch but until we know that the demand is high enough we are encouraging discussion related to BEA WLS certification to remain in this WL-specific forum. So if you want to post matters related to WLS certification study in this forum, feel free. If you have issues with this and think that the case for a separate forum devoted to BEA certification is strong enough, the correct forum to put it forward in is most probably the 'JavaRanch' forum.
Cheers

I passed the exam last week, there are a lot of questions about J2EE APIs and DDs, you should pay more attention on EJB,JDBC,JMS,JMX and cluster.
Cheers,
Steve

Yes, I would like to be a member of discussants. My question is how to go about it? I mean, do we raise questions at this forum on a regular basis? Do all the members of the group will try to look into the questions and answer them? etc.

Hi George,
A WLS Certification forum would be nice. When i was looking for resources and related information i could not find it in totallity anywhere. Such a forum would help a lot of ppl as WLS is becoming more popular.
THanks

As I hinted at before, the subject of new forums and the discussions related to it belongs in the 'Javaranch' discussion forum. I posted a thread called 'BEA certification' there (scroll down the thread list and you'll see it there).
No-one replied to the post. If you feel strongly about it I strongly suggest that you respond to the post there - it has the benefit of being seen by many more sheriffs and moderators than the posts in this forum. If enough people agree, I think there will be a good case for a new forum.
