Hi,

I have 2 questions :

1/ in this sentence : "OpenShift Origin, the free and open source version of OpenShift, is the upstream project for the other two versions(online and entreprise)"
what does it mean "the upstream project" ?

2/another question is PAAS vs SAAS
when I deploy an application on a PAAS, my software is then deployed over the internet, can I then say I have SAAS application, right ?

Thanks,

Hi,
As far as i know, an upstream project is a project other projects derive from. About Saas definition, i have to admit - because of my own ignorance - that a lot of cloud related definitions seem to me to be a bit vague. Formally, a Saas should be a software you can use and pay for upon an usage basis. Theoretically, just every web-based software may assume this form. But i hope that someone else here at coderanch may clarify better than me these terms and concepts.
