I've poked around some and haven't seen a date for when the OCA Java 7 exam will no longer be available. Does anyone know when the Java 7 Associate test will no longer be offered and we will be forced to take the OCA Java 8 exam?

OCA Java 5/6 is still available, so OCA Java 7 should still be around for a long time.

True! Let me prove with some actual numbers. I took the SCJP5 (same as the current OCPJP5) in June 2006 and it's (almost 9 years later) still available (although no more public updates for Java 5 since November 3, 2009).

Also wanted to add this note: although OCA Java 5/6 and OCA Java 7 are both Associate exams, you can not compare them at all. Both exams have a different target audience: OCAJ 5/6 is intended for non-technical people (like managers). OCAJP7 is the entry level certification for programmers/developers. For OCAJ 5/6 you almost need no knowledge about the java programming language (but more about the java eco-system), for OCAJP7 you'll fail without a good knowledge about the basics of the java programming language and object-oriented development (inheritance, polymorphism,...).

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel
