The biggest change in Java is in the minds of the programmers.
A small change in syntax, a huge change in the paradigm.
The paradigm itself is not new, but it is very new way of thinking for those of us who have gained a lot of experience programming in Java.
How will it impact frameworks and libraries? We will start to use more higher order functions, some libraries will smartly take advantage of lazy evaluations, etc.
Once we get a feel for how we can mix OO and FP, we're in for some significant refactoring of APIs and libraries.
