In Codename One we have builtin support for barcodes on iOS, Android etc.
For most platforms we used zxing but on iOS it only supports QR codes so we chose to go with zbar.

Can you elaborate on the advantages of BarcodeKit vs. zbar?
Would BarcodeKit be practical for a platform like Codename One in terms of licensing?

FYI in case you aren't familiar with Codename One, we allow Java developers to write native apps for iOS, Android, Windows, RIM etc. Its open source and uses the cloud to build the final native app.

zbar is a framework for SCANNING barcodes. BarCodeKit on the other hand is a modern Objective-C framework that allows you to generate all sorts of 1D barcodes. So you cannot really compare these two.

BarCodeKit is 150 Euros to license for one developer, or free if this developer owns a copy of my book.
