Hello, new to the forums here. I've been working on the latest edition of Java: A Beginner's Guide and thought I'd try to find a good spot to ask questions or help out if I can. I've got a little background in programming and decided I would like to try my hand at programming for mobile devices. I picked up The Big Nerd Ranch Guide and realized I'd better brush up on Java first before getting too far into it. I'm using NetBeans as an IDE and it's okay so far I guess considering I don't have a lot to compare it to just yet. Anyone been through this book or other beginners book and started an intermediate book yet?

Hey!!! Welcome. We are friendly folks here and would love to have you around.
Did you try Head First Java from Kathy Sierra and Bert Bates. One of the best books, I've read (and also heard from others) in java.

Not yet, I'll look into it though. Thanks for the tip. It looks like the Head First series has an Android Development book coming out this year though so maybe when I'm comfortable enough with java I'll pick both of those up.
