For this question, the solution on page 339 says:

Line 7 also compares references but is true since both references point to the object from the string pool. Finally, line 8 compares one object from the string pool with one that was explicitly constructed and returns false.


The solution should gives:

Or am I misunderstanding something?

Too little information for me to confirm or deny, so I'll notify the authors about your question.

PS. Currently there are 3 books out there for the OCA exam. Could you please add (e.g. in the title) the study guide you have a remark about (makes it clear for everybody). Based on your previous submissions of errata items about Java OCA 8 Programmer I Study Guide, I assume this one is also about this study guide and I added the study guide to the title. Hope that's ok for you.
