I am updating a Servlet for Tomcat 7. I want to use javac within JDK 6 (since that corresponds to Tomcat 7). Where is a good link for that? (in the Oracle JDK site, JDK v6 is hard to find).

I'm not aware that Java 6 corresponds to Tomcat 7 in any sort of way. I've run Tomcat 7 on Java 6, 7 and 8 with no problems.

If you need to produce .class files that run on older versions, have a look at the -target option to javac. You can read about it here: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/technotes/tools/windows/javac.html

Hope this helps.

Older versions of java can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/archive-139210.html

Its not that hard to find. Its just involves scrolling to the bottom of the standard java download page.

OK thanks. It looks like I can use the latest JDK for Tomcat 7 and if there is a problem, I can use the -target flag to see if that fixes it.
