Hello, I'm going through Design patterns, and I came across one, known as Interceptor Pattern, which went over my head. I checked the Wiki page for the same (Wikipedia), but I still can't get it, about what it is and what's it's use in real world applications. Any help would be appreciable.

It gives the example of the Servlet Filter mechanism. I assume you're not familiar with the servlet filters then and how they work.

Ok, then how about packet sniffers? That's a kind of interceptor.

In the real-world, the case where the government does things so they can monitor traffic going through Google or Facebook or telecom companies or banks so that they can examine emails, web postings, phone calls, and financial transactions in the name of national security -- they are intercepting traffic and doing something with it even as the normal flow or use of that traffic continues as if none of that is even happening at all.
