Hi Ranch office,

Java Ranch Rule Round-up (Cow game) at

http://www.javaranch.com/game.jsp

is giving security warning "Application Blocked by Java Security" because Java is considering QuizApplet as an untrusted application. I tried adding

http://www.javaranch.com/

to the Exception Site List and got a security warning "Including an HTTP Location on the Exception Site List is considered a security risk". I tried opening

https://www.javaranch.com

and got Certificate Error "There is a problem with this website's security certificate"

Refer attached screen shots. It would be really helpful to a lot of Rancher's if this security problem is fixed.

Regards,
Mahesh

Hi Mahesh,

Java is these days very picky about the version you are using and blocks applets from running when your Java version is not up-to-date.

When I tried on my (Windows) computer it failed as well. After completing the following steps, the JavaRanch Rule Round-up Game worked just fine.

1/ I added http://www.javaranch.com/game.jsp to the Exception Site List (seems you have already done this one).
2/ I downloaded the latest and greatest version of the JRE from this page, both for Windows x86 and Windows x64.
3/ I closed all my browsers.
4/ I installed the Windows x86 version first (after installing the installer mentioned I had a few outdated versions on my machine and asked if it's ok to remove them, I confirmed it's ok).
5/ I installed the Windows x64 version.

After these steps I was able to play the game in both FireFox and IE10.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel
