I found out about this over email. I don't see it in the forum yet. Please let me know if I'm duplicating existing content.

Per Oracle's article

To commemorate 20 years of Java, Oracle Certification is offering 20 percent discount on all Java certification exams. The offer available globally is now open through December 31, 2015. Candidates must provide promotional code Java20 at the time of registration.

It may be too late for me now. I have already signed up for my EJB exam. I will take it on June 18th, which is less than two weeks away from now.

So if you already have purchased a voucher, you probably won't be able to enjoy this discount (as you already paid full price and you probably won't get a refund of the discount)

Have you already purchased a voucher to pay for a certification exam with 20% discount? Because I wonder if that's possible...

I am planning for 1Z0-897 in 2-3 months from now. Probably end of August or early September this year

Hi Abdul Aziz S Md,

First of all, a warm welcome to CodeRanch!

Abdul Aziz S Md wrote:what is the last date to avail this offer?

From the quote in the first post of this thread: The offer available globally is now open through December 31, 2015.

So I would assume on December 31, 2015 you could schedule a certification exam for April 2016 and still benefit from this discount. As you are planning your certification exam in August/September, you don't have to worry at all about this discount, you'll definitely can benefit from it.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

I tried this and it didn't work, or at least it didn't show a different price on the receipt. I'm not surprised. Entered Java20 in promotional code box.

Just tried it, works like a charm!

In Checkout - Step 3: Enter Payment you have to enter the promotional code Java20 and then don't forget to click on the Apply button. When I did the order total was changed: a row with Promotion Code was added and the Total Due amount was changed as well (see screenshot).

PS. If you try to use the promotional code twice for the same exam, you'll get a validation error (This order contains a discount (Java global 20% discount) that does not permit use with other discounts.)

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

Thank you for the code! I just scheduled my exam with Pearson vue for July 31. I consistently score around 90% on the Enthuware tests, today I even got 98% (1 mistake on a subjective question).

The code saved me even more money than Roel De Nijs! Because the percentage is the same, this unfortunately means I paid more ... Unreducted price is 212.00 euro's so I guess the exchange rate isn't particularly favorable to me.

Looking forward to obtaining the OCA certificate and then study hard for the OCP!

If I would book the exam today, I'll have to pay 212 euros as well (without the discount). I think Oracle shamelessly increased the price in euros and probably uses the currently strong dollar (against the euro) as an excuse (1 USD = 0.91 EUR => 245 USD = 223.86 EUR, so we still have a little benefit )

I didn't notice any restriction about the number of times 1 person can use that code, so I would say "Yes, you can use it for as many certification exams as you want"

Same behavior when I tried to book two exams in one order. Maybe it's a bug in their price calculation. I wonder what happens if you order the exams one at a time and try to apply the discount code on each order.

Hi,

I tried purchasing the voucher through Oracle and Pearson Vue (sends me to Oracle).
I can't seem to find any place to enter the discount code. Has anyone else had this happen?

Thanks!

Got it and scheduled!

For some reason it won't let me do it through Oracle's site. I had to go through Pearson Vue and to pick my test center, etc beforehand. But otherwise worked like a charm.

Thanks!

Just to confirm all above, you can do it only through pearson vue. If you atttempted through oracle site you will not be able to get a discount and you will simply got the voucher on full price. Same concept can be applied also for beta exams, proper way is through pearson site otherwise you pay full voucher.

That's incorrect!

The promotional code you have to use when scheduling your exam is only valid until 31 December 2015. That's clearly mentioned on Oracle's website. If you try to use it to schedule an exam after this date (even on New Year's Day), you'll get a discount validation error (as shown in the attached screenshot).

What a shame, I understood reading one of the first posts in this thread that the discount code was available through Dec. 31 but you could schedule the actual exam on the following months.
I confirm that's not possible as Roel correctly has pointed out.

I have a question about exam rescheduling for which it seems I'm not able to find an answer because usually rescheduling involve a postponing of the exam.
What if I schedule my exam let say for June and then I feel comfortable to take it before, let say in April: is this allowed?

(answering to directly schedule the exam for April is not allowed )

Thanks

According to the Reschedule Policy of the Oracle Certification Program Policies, you can reschedule for free. There's just 1 restriction: you must reschedule at least 1 business day prior to your exam appointment. But in your case that would definitely not be an issue. So I can't think of any reason why it would not be allowed.

I got an additional confirmation from the Oracle Certification Program (OCP) Team

OCP Team wrote:Please note that you need to complete that exam before the promotional code and the voucher expires. OCP Exam Vouchers are not valid after the expiration date and it become void if altered or revised in any way as per our exam voucher policy.

But if you have paid with an OCP exam voucher, you can't reschedule the exam after the expiration date of the voucher. And I learned it the hard way! I had a voucher and thought it would be no problem to book my exam before the expiration date and then reschedule/postpone after the expiration date, but that's not possible. I contacted my local Oracle University representative (when the voucher was still valid), but without success: no voucher replacement, no expiration date extension,...

Thanks very much. I made the registration through the Pearson Vue site with 20% discount.
At first I was very frustrated because it always brought me back to the Oracle site and the Oracle site does not give me any discount. It also collects extra taxes.
Make sure you register with Pearson Vue then proceed with scheduling because you purchase the voucher.
