There is a book
Java Puzzlers Traps, Pitfalls, and Corner Cases
by Joshua Bloch and Neal Gafter.
Is it what you are looking for? I don't think it's a good choice for beginners.

An excellent book; I was given a copy for my birthday once. Some of the puzzles should be comprehensible to beginners. But most require a bit more knowledge to understand.
