Good Morning,

I have couple of more questions for Architects.

1. Do I have to take the training of any one of the below from Oracle only? My office has web based training from Harvard and if it has one of the course is that sufficient?

Architect Enterprise applications with Java EE
Developing Applications for the Java EE 6 Platform
Java Design Patterns
Java EE 6: Develop Business Components with JMS & EJBs
Java EE 6: Develop Database Applications with JPA
Java SE 7 Fundamentals
Java SE 7 Programming
Web Component Development with Servlets & JSPs, Java EE 6
Java EE 6: Develop Web Services with JAX-WS & JAX-RS
Java EE 7: New Features
Object-Oriented Analysis and Design Using UML
Java SE 8 Fundamentals
Java SE 8: Programming

2. Can I take the course after completing the step3 of the certification process? or before that?

3. Can I still use the Sun certified Enterprise Architech for java EE study Guide second edition by Mark Cade and Humphrey Sheil for OCMJEA 6 preparation?

Thanks.

Only Oracle approved courses satisfy the training requirement.

Any time. Before part 1, before part2/3, after part 3. Oracle just won't say you are certified until you done all 3 parts AND training.

I guess the 2e is a good reference for v6. But it's better to use a v6 study guide IMHO. I don't know if there is any comparison between v5 and v6 MC exam but I bet 90% is the same. The only thing that is different from top of my head is design patterns: v6 has some anti-patterns and new patterns.

Thanks for your reply.

I did not understand your statement. But it's better to use a v6 study guide IMHO. Can you please elaborate or mention the book title name?

Well I didn't take the v6 exam so I don't know if the study guide is good or not.

But currently this one is probably the only study guide for v6.

From other posters, it is possible to prepare for v6 with Cade/Sheil 2e book. Further to that, Adam Bien's book "Real World Java EE Patterns" 2e

The rest (stuff not covered in the Cade/Sheil book) will have to come from the web or books on that particular topic.
