Hello!

Im planning to obtain Oracle PL/SQL Developer Certified Associate. But i dont know which one would be the most convinient path.

Firstly, i have to pass one of these exams (exam/questions/passing score/price/link).

- Oracle Database SQL Expert / 75 / 66% / 245 US$ / http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-047&p_org_id=&lang=
- Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I / 64 / 60% / 125 US$ / http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-051&p_org_id=&lang=
- Oracle Database 12c: SQL Fundamentals / 75 / 65% / 125US$ / http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-061

And after pass one of these, i have to pass one of these.

- Program with PL/SQL / 66 / 77% / 245 US$ / http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-147&p_org_id=1001&lang=US
- Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL / 63 / 65% / 245 US$ / http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=5001&get_params=p_exam_id:1Z0-144&p_org_id=1001&lang=US

In case, of the first exam, i dont know if i should choose the second or the third one. The first one looks the most difficult one and also the most expensive.
In case of the second exam, i think the second one is better. And also the professional certification is about Database 11g. But i cant decide.

Can anyone recommend me which one is better and, in case, they tried these certifications, share with us in this topic their experiences and which materials are the best ones to prepare them? And also where i can find mock exams, because i didnt find so much material as i found when i did the OCA Java certification.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Javier,

I have no experience with these exams, but I know about SQL and PL/SQL and Oracle certifications in general and by looking at the exam topics I can say for the first set of exams:
- You're right, Oracle Database SQL Expert is the hardest.
- 11g: SQL Fundamentals I and 12c: SQL Fundamentals are very similar. In fact, I think the only difference is that the 11g exam tests you about views, sequences, indexes and synonyms (Creating Other Schema Objects) and 12c don't. Instead, 12c has an introduction to Oracle Database 12c that 11g doesn't have. But 11g has less questions and a lower passing score, so I'd go for this one.

About the second set:
- If you are going to work with 10g, 11g or 12c go for the Oracle Database 11g: Program with PL/SQL exam. If this doesn't matter, go for the Program with PL/SQL. It should be easier to find material to study because this an older exam and many people have taken it.

A quick search on Amazon shows study guides by Matthew Morris for all these exams and official Oracle Press study guides for some of them. You can search in this forum for posts about preparing or passing for these exams as well.

In summary, I'd go for Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I and Program with PL/SQL if versions are not a concern. I hope this helps you to make up your mind. Good luck.
