Just Cleared it.

Grade: 86

Time used: Running Out of Time, with 5 question checked by Random

Material Used and the Review:

Mala's <<OCA Java SE 7 Programmer I Certification Guide>> - Recommended *****
--- Very good book, esp. for the people without many coding experience, it explains the concepts with diagram, and easy-understood language.
--- For example: To override the equals() method is very well explained. Exception, String, etc.

Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates: <<OCA/OCP Java® SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide>> - Recommended *****
--- After reading Mala's book, I felt enough for the exam. Then I read one chapter of Kathy Sierra, Bert Bates's book. I just can not hold myself from reading it. I read it very carefully for two times.
----If you are experienced coder for C++ or other language, this book fits you well at the beginning. This book impressed me also with some interesting text, like: "What is the bit depth of a boolean?".
--- The first two chapters cover the most tough part of 1Z0-803, so if you have finished the first chapters and feel a bit tough, just keep on.

Acknowledgements:

Roel De Nijs: Thank you for the continuous helps!
Coderanch Forum: Can not imagine passing the exam without information and help from the peers of Coderanch community.

Some Personal Experience:
-- Manage your time by checking Time Left / Question Remaining, don't lose control of your time, like me did.
-- Use several minutes to explore the UI in the beginning, it deserves.
-- Pass and mark some tough questions, do the easy ones first. Most question are not tough - indeed.

Good Luck!

Hi Jamoba,

Congratulations champion! Great achievement Now it's time to relax a bit and have a (well-deserved) (or 2 or 3). And if you want to spoil yourself have a Belgian beer, our beers are the best of the world

Thanks for sharing your experiences. Other ranchers will definitely benefit! Have a cow!

Don't forget to add your name to the OcajpWallOfFame!

You are welcome! Always nice to hear if you have helped someone in his/her journey to finally pass the exam and become Java certified.

Kind regards,
Roel

I had alcohol temperance for 4 months. It is a good excuse to spoil myself with a beer, a Belgian beer, if I can find one in the local liquor store.

Thanks for the Cow!
I tried to edit OcajpWallOfFame, but it seems I don't have the Permissions.

That should be a wiki-page: if you click the edit-link, you have to provide your coderanch credentials and you should be able to edit that page

Thank you, Paul!
The UI is pretty simple and easy to use, just need 1 minute to explore.
