Hello,

Currently, you have the main forums listed, and then subforums below.

This looks really cluttered, and you have to scroll down if you want to find something lower down.

I think a treeview would be much more appropriate.

What do others think?

Thank you.

Have you tried our beta view yet?

I've been using the beta view. I open each category in a new tab when I surf. This is the same number of clicks as a tree view.

Yep, it's still cluttered and you have to scroll down a lot to get to where you need to!

Can you describe the use case you are thinking of? (A treeview is a solution leading us to infer the problem.) The reason I ask is I do see a limitation in the beta view which I want to address next month. Your answer may influence or expand that feature.

My use case:
I come to the site wanting to post a question about Maven (or whatever). To accomplish that in the beta view, I have to know that forum is in engineering section, click it and then click the relevant forum. I want to add a feature that you can create a new post directly from the home page and type in a keyword of the forum you want. Then it would search for the right one and give you a short list.

My use case:
I am new to this site, I have a question related to IDE. I don't yet know what all the categories are, so I have to scroll down bit by bit until I can find the category. Even when I know roughly what the categories are, I still have to scroll down to get to it. With a treeview I can have a collapsed view of the categories, and can guess which is the right one, and go to it, plus I don't have to scroll a lot as I can simply expand the category which I want.

Of course, if we can search on a keyword that solves the problem I have so we don't need a treeview!

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind for the beta view when implementing the feature (like a search on the home page that takes you to the right forum or the ability to post).

IN the non-beta view, you can at least use browser search to do that.
