The most recent version is Java 8. Why are you learning Java 5?

http://java.com/en/download/faq/java_5_eol.xml

The Java version 5.0 reached the End Of Service Life (EOSL) on November 3, 2009, and is no longer supported nor available from java.com.

It is not recommended to install Java version 5.0 due to vulnerabilities and risks found in this version.

The new features of Java8 are so good you should learn them now.
There is no difference between the behaviour of any of the code in this discussion between Java5 and Java8.

Actually I am learning Java from cs106a course of Stanford.. The (free version) lectures of that class were recorded in 2007.So everything taught is according to java5 point of view.

Agh, I've seen it, it's really good. Don't stop after that, grab some kind of good book, maybe "Head First Java", read and try to write code. If you get chance, try to read posts in JavaRanch on daily basis - it helps a lot.
