Hi there,
First of all big thanks to everyone involved in bringing up 'Head first Android development'. I have read Java, Design patterns and PMP books from Head First series and they were awesome. Head first series books are the only ones on this earth that keep reader interesting.

I have started learning Android using my WinXP machine about an year ago and able to write simple app for Android Jelly bean. Then, I changed my laptop to latest Windows 8.1 after which I struggled a to setup the environment and then finally losing the focus.
Later I learnt that, some things were not supported in Win8.1 and hence those problems came up.

I would like to know whether this book covers Android development on latest Windows OSs such as Windows 8.1 and Windows 10?

The good thing about android is that its development is supported on many OS, unlike IOS for which apple xcode is available only on Mac. Checking system requirements at developer.android.com/sdk/index.html#Requirements.
Android studio is supported on windows 8. So we are good to go on win 8.

Hello Raju,

Thanks for the question. We go through the details on installation across Windows, Mac and Linux. Once you have a development environment setup, the operating system is then less relevant. So long as your system supports Android Studio you should be fine.
