Hello Dawn and David,

Congratulations on your book.

I am curious to know, does your book cover topics about creating an Android app that can be integrate with other systems?

Is the book purely devoted to programming Android in Java only or do you demonstrate how someone can create an Android app using a cross platform tool like Phonegap?

Many Thanks,

Kondwani.

Im not the author, but the book say Android - this is a native platform and doesn't care about integration with others.

If by integration you mean usage of web systems i.e. getting data from web systems, There are mechanisms for that. Json, RSS, XML are all used to receive and negotiate with web systems. But this seems an advanced topic at first glance, so I wonder how much of it is discussed in a beginner to intermediate level book.

Hello Kondwani,

Our book covers Android Java development, so no I'm afraid we don't go into things like Cordova/PhoneGap. The programming model for that is a little different, although if you want to extend Cordova/PhoneGap you are likely to need to know a little about Android Java development.

If you are going to do any type of development on Android, it is always a good idea to learn at least some Java development on the platform. It will give a feel for the underlying architecture of the platform.

HTH

Dawn and David
