Hello there,

I took the certification test for Java SE 7 Programmer I last week, and failed it with a 60%. I felt confident before it , but I guess I got nervous and couldn't focus. The computer monitor was big, outdated, and hard to concentrate on. But oh well, no excuses.

I have a few question about retaking the exam. Do I have to pay the fee again? Am I able to retake the exam online, or at the testing center again? And how I should go about reviewing for my second(and hopefully last) retake.

Thank you for all of the help!

Hi Ti, welcome to JavaRanch!

Sorry to hear about your failure. I'm sure you'll get it next time.

From Oracle's FAQ

Retake Policy

Candidates must wait 14 days before retaking a failed proctored exam. (Registration will be allowed on the 14th day)
Candidates may retake an online non-proctored exam at any time.
Candidates may not retake a passed exam at any time.
Candidates may not retake a beta exam at any time.

Also, yes, I'm afraid they make you pay the fee again.

It's been awhile since I got certified, but I believe the score report still breaks down how well you did in different areas. Focus your study on areas where you did poorly, and that should give you the extra boost you need succeed next time.

You will pay again. ( https://coderanch.com/t/650924/java-Architect-SCEA/certification/oracle-certification-exams may be you not see this will help safe some money)
Can you write your:
1. Experience in java
2. Study book you use to prepare
3. How many time spend your preparation and if you measured in days pl. write about you have regular work or you can spend whole day to study.
4. Did you use mock test. If yes - what was your result.
5. Did you answer all question on actual exam? (question about time). And have you time to check correctness of your answers? You use mark question?
This information will very help to other ranchers, and also this help make advice to you in what you must correct/or use in additional preparation to pass exam.
