Hi,

I am playing around a bit with the Java Advanced Imaging API and I want to create a special TIFF.
Now I want to ask, if my wishes below can be implemented in Java (or any other language) and how to start this.

I need to have an extra channel in my TIFF document for a printing company.
Until now, i do that manually in photoshop like this:

1) In the layers menu, I can choose something like "select pixels" when right-clicking on the thumbnail of a layer.
This will select me the whole area which is not transparent.

2) Then I invert the selection.

2.1) To have a better printing result, I shrink the selection by 1 px.

3) Then I save this selection as a new channel and give it my needed name.

Can anyone give some hints how to achieve that (and if it is possible in java or if needed in any other language?)

Thanks in advance.
Alex

@mods: sorry for first posting in German. I was too focused on my problem ;-)
