Hello, is it possible to view the full text content of a database field if it contains very large text? I am using Hibernate with PostgreSQL.

I just assigned a very large text to my Java object's 'Description' field using myUser.setDescription(veryLargeText) and I marked the field as @Lob (Hibernate annotation 'Large Object'). The text contains 494 words (3038 characters). However, when I query my table in PostgreSQL pgAdmin the 'Description' field has a mysterious value: 24772 instead of the actual text. See here: http://oi59.tinypic.com/bhg6s8.jpg What does that number mean? Could it represent a hash or some kind of a compressed value reference?

When I look at the column data type in the database it says: 'storage EXTENDED', which should mean the data is compressed using an LZ-algorithm. Now, is it possible at all to view the full text in my resultset window?
