Aside from Simon Roberts' videos, what other references can I look at to pass OCJP7?

I'm looking to get OCJP7 certified this year.

Aside from Simon Roberts' videos (which I absolutely cannot afford at this time but would love to watch),
what books can I look at?
Are there also mock exams I can take to prepare myself for the actual exam?

I have to admit to being biased, because Bert is a long-time close personal friend, but I think that Bert Bates certification study guide would be a great addition for anyone who likes a a book I've not looked at any others, so really I can't make a fair comparison.

Of course, this forum is hugely valuable, since it's interactive, and you can discuss issues that are confusing or opaque to you. Also, find lots of sample questions, and write lots of code.

Good luck,
Cheers,
Simon

In the OcajpFaq (besides other very useful information) and this thread you'll find an overview of all available resources (study guides, mock exams,...) to thorougly prepare yourself for the certification exam. And on the OcajpWallOfFame you'll find plenty of (links to) experiences from other ranchers (including resources they have used). So it can be useful to determine which resources are useful (and which are not).

I think for OCAJP7 (and OCPJP7 later on) K&B7 with Enthuware is the best available combination currently on the market. If you plan to do only the OCAJP7, you might settle with the Mala Gupta OCA study guide as well.

Hope it helps!
Kind regards,
Roel

(Disclaimer: I was one of the technical reviewers of K&B7, so I might be a little biased. But I have done 3 SCJP certifications and always used the K&B study guide)
