Java sound head first java recommendation

I'm going through the head first java book and just hit the java sound section and read this.

"The rest of this chapter is optional, you can use the Ready-bake code for all the music apps. But if you want to learn more about javaSound turn the page. Does anyone recommend actually reading this section and why? Will I miss anything "useful" if I skip it?

It depends on what you want to learn. The chapter is about creating applications that make sound and music. We can't tell you if you find that useful or not, you'll have to decide that for yourself. What kind of applications would you learn to make with Java?

As a professional programmer who mainly makes Java software that runs on servers of many different kind of businesses, I've never had to create a Java application that does anything with sound.

Thanks Jesper. That pretty much answers my question. I don't intend to make anything with the java sound.
