Passed OCA JP8 today - first
java certification.
For my preparation, I studied Jeanne Boyarsky and Scott Selikoff OCA: Oracle Certified Associate Java SE 8 Programmer I Study Guide: Exam 1Z0-808 book. For items I didn't get correct in the Chapter Review Questions, I re-read the topic in the book and also googled and checked Java ranch and the documentation.
I also used the Enthuware exams for Java 8. I went over the exams before I studied the book (ranging from 51-73%) and after (78-88%). Significant improvement from reading the book!
For the exam itself, I took it slowly and finished with around 40 minutes left. I didn't have enough time to pass by all questions again for review, but I got to around 50 before the time ran out.
Now I will begin preparation for the OCP JP8 (IZ0-809). Quite sad to know that the OCP JP8 book for OCP8 will not be out until December, and currently no Enthuware exams for OCP JP8. I am checking the other threads as to how others are reviewing for the OCP JP8. Planning to use an OCP JP7 book plus a book on new features of Java 8. Any recommendations?
Thanks again to Java Ranch for the wonderful tips (by reading the different threads)!
