Hi Edward Finegan & Robert Liguori,

Oracle page "http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/ou_product_category.getPage?p_cat_id=267#" gives following 5 certification details:

1. Entry-Level Java Programmer

2. Java Professional Programmer

3. Java Application Developer Expert

4. Java Performance Tuning & Optimization Expert

5. Experienced Java Programmer / Developer.

I'm really confused about these certification titles. Do we have to take all the certifications one by one?
"OCA Java SE 8 Programmer" comes under which certification category in above list?

For starters, I can't find these categories on the link you provided. On this page you'll find these Oracle Certification Levels:
  • Oracle Certified Associate (OCA): The Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) credential endorses your fundamental skills that form a strong foundation in supporting Oracle products. Becoming an Oracle Certified Associate is often the first step you can take toward becoming an Oracle Certified Professional.
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): The Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) credential is the benchmark of professional skill and technical expertise. It validates your ability to manage, develop or implement a range of Oracle products including Oracle Database, Java, Oracle Solaris, Applications and more. IT managers often use the OCP credential to evaluate the qualifications of employees and job candidates.
  • Oracle Certified Master (OCM): The Oracle Certified Master (OCM) credential recognizes the ultimate advanced level of skills, knowledge and proven ability. Oracle Certified Masters are qualified to answer the most difficult questions and solve the most complex problems.

So clearly the OCAJP8 certification belongs to the Oracle Certified Associate level.

    Hope it helps!
    Kind regards,
    Roel

These are different learning paths. So it's an overview of which courses you can take if you are for example an entry-level Java programmer. These courses might help you to pass the OCA certification, but are mostly pretty expensive.

You are not required to follow any of these learning paths, you are even not required to take one of the courses. You can simply buy (or win ) a study guide, study yourself and take the OCA8 exam and become an Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer.
