Yes. you for getting OCJP 8 graduate you must pass OCA
Become an Oracle Certified Professional
you can pass OCJP 8 before or after OCA 8. But you get certificate only if you pass both of them.
Also because to get this degree you must pass both of this most right and easy way pass OCA and then OCJP.
and if you already pass OCJP of prior version you may pass only one exam: Upgrades

This page clearly states that the Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 8 Programmer is required as prior certification, although you can take both exams (1Z0-808 and 1Z0-809) in a random order.
