The 1Z0-810 exam , which is supposed to take you from Java 7 to Java 8 contains 81 questions, while the 1Z0-810 exam, which is supposed to take you from Java 6- to Java 8, contains only 60 questions.

I am sure they know that it Java 8 is a LOT more different from Java 6 than it is from Java 7. So how can they test a candidate on more topics by asking less questions?

Any thoughts?

Interestingly, passing score for <= 6 to 8 exam is also lesser than the 7 to 8 exam

The 7 to 8 exam seems to be mainly focused on Lambda expressions. While the other exam (which you can give even if you are SCJP 1.2 certified) focuses on a wide variety of topics. I don't know what they were thinking while setting this up...

The only thing I can think of is that they desperately want old timers to move to Java 8 and to feel happy that they are certified for the Java 8 platform without too much of an effort.
IMHO, Java developers who are already OCPJP/SCJP <=6 certified should jump on to this until it lasts!
