I was solving some mock exams, and got a question which confused me !
question : which is typically not thrown by JVM, being instead thrown by developer
options : NumberFormatException, ClassCastException, NoclassDefFound, NullpointerException

my answer: NONE as all are unchecked exceptions and are thrown by the JVM

Answer given: NumberFormatException

can someone please explain me the reason, or something I missing !! ?

NumberFormatException is not thrown by the JVM itself. It is thrown from the code of Java classes.
