As I understand, individuals are not allowed to edit the posts.

Nothing like that. Feel free to edit your posts. Click the "Edit" button on the small toolbar at right top corner of your post. (If it's disabled or not visible, let me know).
Since your post is a to-do list, you'll likely have to update it now and then anyway.

The only button visible to me is 'Quote.'

Turns out I was wrong about posts being editable.
Adi, I've updated your first post this time. Whenever you want to write about your progress, please add them as replies.

As per my observation,
I can edit my post if it is the last post in the thread.
I can not edit my post if someone has posted after me.

So I thought may be "Edit previous posts" is a privilege given to members somewhere above the designation of Ranch Hand.

I removed some posts from this thread because the answers were a bit less than accurate ... plus I am the almighty ruler of this kingdom and feel the need to exercise my powertripping superpowers once in a while.

To very accurately clarify when the edit button will and will not appear .... when the system feels like it.

The algorithm for when the edit button appears has not only become ridiculously complicated, but I'm pretty sure that some LISP code is in there, allowing the algorithm to modify itself based on weather patterns and general humor needs of the system. And then our own developers jump into the code and try to code faster than the self changing code yelling things like "end of the world" and some incantations in latin.

So the algorithm is weird and ever changing. So there.

You can either edit your post or you can't.

HOWEVER! IF you really, really, really want to edit your post, you can try sucking up to your favorite moderator.

I myself am glad to edit any post you want. Even if you didn't write it. For $200. (of course, after I collect the $200 I will probably point out that I did not offer to edit the post the way YOU want - just that I would edit it.)

I hope this helps. Feel free to click on the thumbs up button on this post - it amplifies my ego.
