Although I am working in Java for many years but didn't get a chance to take certification.
Now, I am planning to take certification exam. for Java 7.

It seems to be Oracle Certified Java Programmer, its a two step process:
- first to take Oracle Certified Associate, Java SE 7 Programmer
- and then Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 7 Programmer

I just wanted to be sure, is it compulsory to take OCA on the path to become Oracle Certified Java Programmer?

Please confirm.

Yes. OCA 7 is a pre-req for the OCP 7 to get certified.
