Hi ,
After preparing for nearly 2 months, I have finally passed the Bea Weblogic 7.0 exam.
Regarding the exam it was pretty easy, but I am not happy with the formating of the questions. Some questions were pretty confusing as to what is expected of us.
Most of the questions were basic J2EE questions which was strange since I was expecting most of the questions to be weblogic specific.
I would rate a person with SCJEA higher than that of BEA, and with the pass percentage reduced to 60% anyone who has written SCJEA Part I can pass this exam, though there is slight risk.
There were a few scenario questions on clustering and I scored the highest in this area.

Any how it was a good experience
Enjoy!!!

Hi arun,
Basically the clustering questions were scenario based questions like lets say
you have a three servers a, b , c. Lets say you have a web application deployed on one and b and c contains ejb application. What is the type of invocation like is it remote, local reference etc.
Please take note that the above qustion is fabricated and not from the exam.
Other wise the questions were concept based like which strategy (roundrobin, weight, ) would you use when.

Congrats!!! Really inspiring to hear from about your success....Actually with this new version I was digging even deep into the pdf bea documents...Just doing the clustering objective now...
Can you guide us where to start reading.
Are the pdf's enough? or should i build the concept from books.
Yyour guidance will be highly valuable.
Did you get questions about xml files.
Like which descriptor element is used for wht ...etc
thanx

Firstly you need to be good on your J2EE concepts.
Secondly you can just browse through the weblogic documentation. Its not something you must know, but be able to analize and make a good guess.
I did not get any questions on the xml files but as i said above you must have a cursory glance at them.

Matthew ,
My SCJEA Part II and Part III are due for the last 1 year and I have to decide to complete it. Other than that I would be intrested in learning something on UML so that I can be a complete architect.

Yes as the syllabus clearly states webservices is covered. I think i missed one question here. The depth is not significant , there are simple questions like matching the terms with what they mean like UDDI - what it means
JAXRPC -- what it means
etc
Other Questions in webservices too were simple. I did not do much preparation in webservices but guess I fared OK. There was one specific question on the implementation of webservices by weblogic so I guess one must read and understand the samples provided by weblogic 7.0

Hi Rahul,
I am getting 82% in the BEA 7.0 sample test.
How would you consider my preparation compared to real test?.
Am I still at risk?. Any advice please?
I plan to give the test in few weeks?.
Thanks,
Prabu

Prabu ,
Decide on a date perhaps 15-31 days in advance and go ahead and give it.
Basically if you know your J2EE concepts well you should atleast get through.
But I again suggest you to go through clustering thoroughly.

Faiza,
I think that that should be more than enough. But there will be scenario based questions in this area too so be prepared for them.

Hi Rahul,
Its a great news.. not many people are seen to be passing this feat... I am also preparing for it...Please do describe your experience in terms of efforts you had put in and the study material you used?
What are the topics which require special attention?
Thanks in advance
