How long would it take for an average Java Developer with 1.5 yrs experience to learn and start contributing to a project that uses PEGA PRPC?

I have 1.5 yrs experience in an IT Services firm and am quite ok with understanding business requirements and converting them to code. How long would it take to learn and be proficient with it in a general sense in PEGA PRPC ??

What are the prerequisites for being a better PEGA developer ?

What should one know very well before starting out on a project that uses PEGA ?
