Welcome to the Ranch

You have been given poor advice because there is no such thing as a 2D array. There are arrays of arrays which are better than 2D arrays. Why are you using arrays for an inventory system? The question looks as if you have thought how to do it before you thought what you want to do. Write down on paper what you want in simple English/other language. Make it very very simple and you will be able to turn it to code easily. If any words like method or array appear on the paper erase the lot and start again.

Don't add a new question to an existing thread. I shall create a new thread from this question.

Inventory System
Menu:
[a] add vegetables
[b] add fruits

Select letter to add items. (Letters aside from a and b should not be accepted and should ask the user to enter a letter again)
How many items do you like to add?
Hint: use 2d array.
Input after selecting a or b: (input depends on the number of items the user like to add)
Item code:
Item name:
Price:
Quantity:

After adding items, the program should ask the user to search for an item based on the item name. if the item name is not found, display “Sorry, Item is not found!”.

Output:
Search item:
Item code:
Price:
