I have a potential requirement to implement a rich calendar. This would include an interface that lets the user drag calendar appointments/events around to visually maintain them.

I'm still trying to see if the prospective client doesn't just need to get ... Outlook, but in the meantime I wanted to get an idea if anyone uses JSF for this type of application. I'm guessing a basic JSF application of this type, with the requisite DB, Spring, and other components could take weeks to develop.

Thanks in advance,

I have several webapps that use the RichFaces Calendar control. Works just fine, although learning how to make it work initially was challenging.

I use it in its aspect as a pop-up calendar from a text control, but if I remember correctly, you can also make it render large calendars as well. Drag and drop are supported, although that's a feature I haven't used myself.

Also, if you're not already familiar with it, learn about the iCal/vCal data interchange format. It's the standard that allows you to post or pull calender events to and from many devices and services, including Google Calendar, MS Outlook, Android Mail, Linux Evolution and the Apple products.
