I have heard this term AWS often, but really don't know much about it.
if we want to process or search a condition in a large database of rules, how Amazon web service can be used?
I just gave an example. When we have most of the data in our own servers how AWS can help computing using their resources? Should the data be migrated to their end?

Thanks for your question Mohamed.

You can make use of the AWS services in many different ways.

A very easy way is to transform your workload to virtual servers (EC2) on AWS. You get root-access to these virtual servers, so you are able to install any application or database you want to.

If you want to make use of a managed storage service you can choose between the following services:
* RDS for SQL databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL and Orcale (covered in our book Amazon Web Services in Action)
* DynamoDB is a managed and highly available and scalable no-sql database (covered in our book Amazon Web Services in Action)
* S3 is a simple object store, fully managed and scalable (covered in our book Amazon Web Services in Action)
* Redshift is a managed data warehouse

Can you give me a little bit more details about your requirements for processing and searching in a large database of rules. I'd like to guide you to the AWS service that fits your requirements best.

Hi Andreas,
Thank You for your time to answer the question.

So AWS is most probably can be used to create a new system instead of changing the existing systems? More of a hardware infrastructure service rather than a software offering....

I just gave an example to get better understanding, it is not a real requirement.

You can use AWS to replace existing systems and you can develop complete new applications based on the AWS services.

Replacing existing systems is usually done with the help of the basic AWS services like virtual servers (EC2), private networking (VPC) and SQL-databases (RDS).

On the other hand you are able to develop new applications on top of very interesting services like Lambda, S3, DynamoDB that allow you to build very quickly and operate at lower costs.
