Hie everyone

I have been having problems preparing for the OCPJP 8 exam. I passed my OCA 8 exam on the 22nd of September and I have some books that have been recommended since the study guide is not yet out such as the OCPJP 7 study guide by sierra bates, java 8 in action, java 8 for the really impatient, java 8 recipes but I am having problems following since besides grasping concepts, I also have to keep track of the exam topics. Its been almost a month now and I still havent covered much ground :'(. I am targetting sitting for the exam on the 30th of November and I am really worried now as this certification is required of me by that time at work. Would anyone like to help me with how best I can prepare for this exam?

It's a tough exam and even tougher without a study guide. I realize that doesn't help you though. My advice is to:
1) Make sure you can answer all the questions in K&B 7 (except for the topics that are out of scope like WatchService)
2) Write a lot of code using lambdas
3) Make subtle changes to the lambdas to see what breaks/behaves unexpectedly.
4) Ask questions here on what you are on unclear about.

Lol yaa the its a tough exam part makes it a little worse but thanks for the heads up and I will certainly follow your advice
What is your advice on how I should read chapters like generics and collections where there are a lot of collections that are not examined in the java 8 exam? Should I just read the whole chapter? Time is what I am worried about but at the same time I really want to understand...

First print out this comparison. That way you can skip things. For Collections, reading the whole chapter is still useful. When you to memorize, you can focus on what you actually need. It's the Concurrency and JDBC chapters, where there is a lot you can skip - whole sections. Same for Strings (regular expressions)
