Hello:

I need to develop a java process that needs to execute few steps sequentially.

For example:
Step 1: Read files from a directory
Step 2: Process the file and write data to a text file
Step 3: Move the text files somewhere
I am researching for a better design pattern.
Is Spring Batch good?

Thanks
Aadil

What make you think you need more than a few simple Java statements?

Why use Java at all? this looks like something perl (or perhaps) python would be great for.

Why would perl or python be any better? Who knows what "process the file" in step 2 might entail.

fair point. I assumed it was a text file, but there is no reason to have done so.

The example i gave is very simple. My actual work is related to processing large batches of invoices (X12 transactions). There are several steps involved.
But i want to have the ability to add more steps or drop existing steps or test individual steps.
I can write a simple java program and call all my steps. But for adding or dropping steps need code changes.
I am looking for some good design pattern.

Thank you for your responses.
