A few niggling doubts

Hi All,

I need to submit my assignment as soon as possible. I purchased it in July and it expires on the 7th of Jan.
I am done with almost everything, just putting in the finishing touches.
Here are my doubts:

1)
I cannot be sure what depth the component diagram should be?

Should the components be at the level: Service, batch jobs, database, UI.

Or should they be:
user, system1, system2, database repository??
Cannot make up my mind on this.

2) Do the examiners expect a particular solution. I have gone with (according to me) what is the best and least performance hungry solution. I have discussed in detail what solutions I considered and why i rejected the other options? Would that be fine?

3) I am going to submit the assignment this Monday (23rd Nov 2015). Surely there isn't enough time for a re-submission, so this is all or nothing. What date can I pick for my essay assignment, does it have to be 4 weeks after the submission of assignment?

4) Would it be fine if I split my class diagram into multiple diagrams??

Regards,
Sid

Welcome to the Ranch.

If you bought the assignment in Jul 2015 then still have 1.5 months till Jan 2016.

Anyway regarding your questions:
1) component diagram is high level of class diagram. Having the "key" classes as components (like controllers, DAO, etc) will be the correct approach. Too few components or too much tend to mean you over simplify to haven't think thoroughly enough.

2) performance hungry solution is a personal opinion. So documenting it will be fine.

3) the essay exam can be registered once you have uploaded the assignment. The system won't let you to book essay without uploading. Oracle will look at the assignment after you done essay.
There will be no re-submission unless you fail the assignment which you won't until they look at it.

4) class diagram should be in one diagram. I personally don't recommend splitting class diagrams, but a few people did and they still passed.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks K.Tsang.

I am still a bit stuck with the component diagram.

On the one hand I have identified EJB, JSF, DAO etc (not individual classes) as components. If i do so then i cannot exactly have a ball and socket representation.

On the other hand I could use each class as component in these layers but that would mean that i have the same level of detail as the class diagram.

A bit confused.

Not all component diagram needs a ball and socket representation. When I did mine, I didn't have it. Honestly I kinda still not fully understand the use of it.

Try to group classes together as if they were in the same package. That way each group can be a component.

Hi All,

what happens if I will be able to upload the assignment and to do the essay in time, but the date when the examiner ask to me to re-submit something where I was wrong is over the expiration date of the voucher?

Thanks in advance

If you need to resubmit because of some part failed, you need to pay again for the resubmission. You have one month from the failure date to resubmit.

If they didn't give your the failure, then contact Oracle since the file probably didn't get through properly. In this case it's not a voucher thing.

The re-submission has to be paid independently of the 6 months are expired or not?

Is it a fail submission in the first place? If yes new payment

If you didn't submit within 6 months... yet done essay... what the? VUE doesn't allow you to do the essay before submission.

I don't know which one of these you are in. Contact Oracle/VUE when in doubt.

Got my result yesterday. Passed the assignment with 146/160. A big big big thanks is due to K. Tsang.
Thank you very much for being patient and answering so many doubts from submission to, silly exam related questions to critical pointers. I hope to follow in your footsteps and help others with doubts on this forum.
