Hi gurus,
I would like to seek advice on file uploads using JSP to a server.

When someone selects a file from his local drive and then proceeds to click on upload button to the server, how does it travels to the server?

Lastly how secure is the transfer from his local drive to the server?

Thanks for the insights

File uploads are accomplished by using a input of type file in a form marked as multi-part.

When submitted, this form needs special handling on the server. This is usually accomplished via a 3rd-party library as parsing the multi-part request is not handle by normal servlet code.

See the File Upload entry of the JspFaq for details.

It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
