Hi everyone, I came from the OCAJP 8 with 90%(15/09/2015) so I decided to follow up with OCPJP 8 and I did this exam yesterday, and I scored 81%.

Here My sources of Study for OCPJP 8:

- K&B OCA/OCP Java SE 7 Programmer I & II Study Guide (OCP Part, and just about Enums from OCA part)
- Java 8 In Action (Some chapters I skip like about comparisons with Scala Language)
- Mock Tests Enthuware
-Tutorials from JavaDoc.

Difficulties:

The biggest difficult mine was that there are many subjects to study, and as has not been published the Study Guide yet for the OCPJP 8, so I felt a little insecure about what book (s) choose about new features of Java 8.
(Java 8 In Action help me with sure as well JavaDoc).

Mock Tests:

When I decided to start the standard tests from Enthuware, my grades were so bad. So in the first tests I delayed more than two days reviewing the topics that I scored low. I followed up just when I felt comfortable such subjects, even so, I got to pass in the tests only in the last two exams. But the tests really were useful! I have really learned a lot with my wrongs from the tests!

My respective scores from mock tests: 60%(Foundation) , 52%, 59%, 61%, 61%, 56%, 68% and 71%(Last day). My medium grade was 61%.

My impressions about the exam:

The exam was what I expected doing the mock tests from Enthuware. The major questions were about streams and functional Interfaces,
and of course some questions with many subjects together, but even so covered all the subjects of exam including CycleBarrier. (Have sure that you really understood about method from STACK(LIFO) and QUEUE(FIFO)!! )

So, my tips are:

- Write code a lot and see what happens if you put something there or here, this strategy help me a lot to really understand how some things works. (Like Generics!!!)
- And do not follow up next exam test without understand the why you got wrong questions.

I really thank the Enthuware Team by mock tests, they were much worth.
The book K&B even being for the Java SE 7, was my base of studies and incredibly helpful too.

Best Luck for Every one on the Exam!

Jeanne and I released a Study Guide with Sybex for 1Z0-809 that starting shipping in early December. Given the timeline, it looks like it probably would have arrived at your doorstep the day you took the exam!

At least other test takers have a clearer path to study. Congratulations on the results!

Ah, yes, it depends on the country. In the US, it started shipping the second week of December. Glad you finally got yours! Good luck!

Jeanne and I both took the beta and it was tough, in part because of all the errors in the questions. I found a lot of questions that didn't make any sense as written or had obvious typos/errors in them. Plus, the beta is a lot more questions so it can be completely exhausting. At least the price for the beta is reasonable.
