I'm using Netbeans, I want to have two tables on a screen. One on the left list customers (AccountNo, Name) the other lists items bought by those customers (6 more columns).
I want the two tables side by side but I want them to be resizable vertically and horizontally. I can do that but I do want the user to be able to change the size of each table in comparison to the other. I was thinking I could put some sort of vertical bar between the tables, attach them to the bar and then allow the user to move the bar so that the tables would dynamically resize on either side. I cannot seem to create a moveable bar! I've seen it done, anyone know how to do it?

Look up different layouts in the Java™ Tutorials. You might find something there. But before that, find out about components which have layouts built in, like tabbed panes. I suspect what you really want might be one of that sort of component, called a split pane. But I am not sure.
